Representation of your rights
In Germany
In February 1995, the SPPF concluded a unilateral agreement with the GVL (an organization representing artists and producers’ rights in Germany). The purpose of this agreement is to pay out the remuneration collected for the broadcasting of phonograms and/or music videos declared in its Social Directory, made by radio and television stations operating on German territory.
This agreement is of particular importance for Independent Producers who are not represented, either directly by the GVL, or indirectly by a license, distribution or representation contract, under the terms of which they would have entrusted the management of their neighboring rights to their co-contracting party on this territory.
In the United-Kingdom
In August 1995, the SPPF concluded a representation mandate with the VPL (British collective management organization for the rights of music video producers). The purpose of this agreement is to pay out the remuneration collected from MTV for music video broadcasts made in Europe, declared in its Social Directory and for which its associates have given it a management mandate.
This mandate has been extended to the broadcasting of music videos especially by the BBC.
Then, in July 2003, the SPPF concluded a reciprocal agreement with the PPL (British collective management organization for the rights of phonogram producers) for the purpose of paying out the remuneration collected for the broadcasting and communication to the public of phonograms declared in its Social Directory and for which its associates have entrusted a management mandate for this territory.
In Belgium
In November 2016, the SPPF concluded a representation mandate with IMAGIA (Belgian collective management organization for the rights of music video producers) for the purpose of paying out remunerations collected for the communication to the public of music videos declared in its Social Directory and for which its associates have entrusted a management mandate for this territory.
Then, in February 2017, the SPPF concluded a representation mandate with SIMIM (Belgian collective management organization for the rights of phonogram producers) for the purpose of paying out remuneration collected for broadcasting and communication to the public of phonograms declared in the SPPF’s Social Directory and for which its associates have entrusted a management mandates for this territory.
In the Netherlands
In February 2024, the SPPF concluded an agreement with the SENA (Dutch collective management organization for the rights of phonogram producers) for the payment of remuneration collected for the broadcasting and communication to the public of phonograms declared in the SPPF’s Répertoire Social and for which its members have entrusted it with a management mandate for this territory.
The SPPF favors the conclusion of agreements with foreign CMOs mainly in the territories where the catalog of the independent producers is exploited and generates remunerations.
Representation of your “cable” rights at the international level
In February 2000, the SPPF concluded an agreement with AGICOA (Association de Gestion Internationale Collective des Œuvres Audiovisuelles) and ANGOA (Association Nationale de Gestion Collective des Œuvres Audiovisuelles) for the payment of remuneration collected abroad for the simultaneous, integral, and unchanged retransmission on cable of music videos incorporated into television programs initially broadcasted by terrestrial or satellite means.
Advantages of collective management of your rights by the SPPF
The collective management of rights was implemented by the SPPF from the outset regarding television channels for the broadcasting of music videos and was extended to phonograms for their use, within the framework of the production of background music and telephone on-hold music and in the field of simultaneous and integral cable retransmission.
1 Facilitate the user/producer relationship
2 Boost your musical productions’ visibility
3 Simplify the management of your rights
4 Guarantee the respect of your recordings
